Henri Matisse and Shape

"Creativity takes Courage" -Henri Matisse
I have always had a love for Matisse, perhaps because I have a cousin with the same name, but also because of his "painting with scissors."  This week we focused on Matisse's use of organic shapes.  Some amazing art from the man himself:

Then my little Matisses made their own works of art by painting with scissors.
The work of a 9 year old.

Wild Things

Tots Heart Art's first class was Maurice Sendak's Where The Wild Things Are.
We created fabulous monster masks.
Had our own wild rumpus.
And enjoyed our very own monster snack mix!

Georgia O'Keeffe and Perspective

Our first class of I Heart Art was covering the wonderful Georgia O'Keeffe and learning about perspective.  We talked about O'Keeffe's life and looked at a slide show of her work.
Then I had an assortment of items from nature for them to look at and think about drawing.
Rough drafts were done in crayon.  Their final pieces of art were done in oil pastel.  I hate to brag but the class nailed it!  Look at their wonderful creations.
